Talk to Calanthe

Speak instead of typing, and hear her answer in her own voice. Available on all paid plans.

Who gets voice

Voice conversations are included with the Pro, Pro+, and Power plans. The Free plan does not include voice; upgrade to unlock it. No setup is needed on paid plans. It works out of the box.

Speak to her

  1. Click the microphone button in the chat input.
  2. The first time, your browser asks permission to use the microphone. Click Allow.
  3. Talk normally. Your words are transcribed into the input box as you speak.
  4. Stop talking, and after a short pause the message sends on its own. You can also click the mic again to stop, edit the text, and send manually.

Hear her replies

  • Click the speaker icon beneath any reply to hear Calanthe read it aloud.
  • Prefer she reads every reply? Open Settings > Speech and turn on Automatic playback.

Hands-free Conversation Mode

For a fully spoken back-and-forth, open Settings > Speech and enable Conversation Mode. You speak, she answers out loud, and the microphone opens again for your next turn, so you can keep the whole exchange hands-free. Great while cooking, driving passenger-seat research, or pacing around a problem.

Monthly voice allowances

Each plan includes a generous monthly number of voice messages, counted separately in each direction (messages you speak, and replies she speaks):

  • Pro: 400 spoken messages and 400 spoken replies per month
  • Pro+: 800 and 800
  • Power: 2,000 and 2,000

Allowances reset at the start of each calendar month. If you reach the limit you will see "You have reached this month's voice limit for your plan"; typing and reading work as normal, and voice returns next month.

Roles work in voice too

Pick a specialist role like Interview Coach or Math Tutor and then talk. She stays in character out loud, which makes roles like Interview Coach genuinely useful for spoken practice.

Troubleshooting

  • The mic button does nothing: your browser has likely blocked microphone access. Click the lock/permissions icon in the address bar, allow the microphone for calanthe.ai, and reload.
  • Nothing transcribes: check your operating system's sound settings to confirm the right input device is selected, and speak a little louder; very quiet audio may not trigger transcription.
  • The message sends before you finish: the auto-send fires after a pause in speech. Keep talking steadily, or click the mic to stop and edit before sending.
  • Voice options look different: in Settings > Speech, make sure the speech engine settings are on their defaults.
  • "Voice conversations are available on paid Calanthe plans": you are on the Free plan. Upgrade to use voice.
